This is the internet. People are Grade A fuckfaces when they want to be, and will be hostile for any reason.

I got to meet Jason Heffner once upon a time. Couldn't have come across a more passionate and enthusiastic person who really cared about the work he and his company did on cars.
the internet would have you believe that people like Heff and Henn are monsters and scumbags and con artists and all that crap.

So you're saying that I shouldn't call him a shady crook because his highly tuned race car engines tend to combust like highly tuned race car engines?

People heard something one time from another guy who's cousin's best friend's uncle's old college roommate had a bad deal one time from them, and so that person MUST be a horrible person.
Every single person that I've known who has had personal conversations and business with John has had nothing bad to say about him AT ALL. I just hate it when stories perpetuate on the internet and people think it's perfectly fine to anonymously besmirch him.

Pretty much. I'm sure people would call out Ferrari's former CEO for similar reasons.
"I hate you because someone one time said a bad thing about you and I saw a story once where one of your cars had a problem that pretty much all similar cars have!!"

What's ridiculous is that I feel like Ferrari gets less flack. Like, it's expected of a Ferrari, which is carefully crafted from the ground up. Not expected from a car made with lots of plastic, usually originally constructed on an assembly line, then heavily modified.

Mr. Hennessey, do you see a market for a smaller sports car? I mean smaller, as compared to the Venom. Or maybe a less powerful version of the Venom?
